Locate your serial number, model identifier, and part number

You can find the serial number and other identifiers for your Mac Pro in macOS, on the computer's surface, and on its packaging.

In the About This Mac window

With most versions of macOS, you can find your computer's serial number and model information in the About This Mac window.

Serial Number Model Number Lookup (1)

Choose Apple menu () > About This Mac. The window that appears lists your computer's model name—for example, Mac Pro (Late 2013)—and serial number. You can then use your serial number to check your service and support options or to find tech specs for your model.

You can also use your computer's model identifier to get more information. In the About This Mac window, click System Report. In the System Information window that opens, find Model Identifier in the Hardware Overview section. Then use the identifier to locate your Mac Pro below.

On the surface of your Mac Pro

Shut down your Mac Pro and unplug any connected cables so you can safely move it.

On Mac Pro (Late 2013), the serial number is on the computer's bottom surface. On earlier Mac Pro models, the serial number is on the computer's back panel, below the video ports.

On the original product packaging or receipt

If you still have the original packaging for your Mac Pro, you can find the serial number on a barcode label on the box.

The packaging also lists the Apple part number—for example, ME253xx/A. Match that number to one in the list below to find your Mac Pro model.
In Apple part numbers, the 'xx' before the slash are variables that differ by country or region.
